Is it just me or is the VR view not in stereoscopic 3d?
I am not seeing the depth effect while viewing in VR mode with google cardboard.

I made sure the "FORCE MONOSCOPIC" setting is off.

using Android App.

I believe that the currently free CoreVR conversion is not stereoscopic, whereas the custom conversion (which still costs you approx $500) SOMETIMES is (I think they try to make it stereoscopic, but I don't think they guarantee it)

If the space has a cube icon on it, that means it support Stereoscopic 3D.

Matterport's official statement on this has been that while they offer it, true stereoscopic VR makes people feel dizzy and sick. This plays well into CoreVR being their solution.

It sounds convenient, but it might be true. Motion sickness associated with VR is very common especially on the lower end sets.

@vgarcia

If Matterport is still offering Stereoscopic conversion to VR ...

Matterport Stereoscopic conversion cost $$$$$ and may take 2-3 weeks for the conversion to be completed.

If you want Matterport to convert a model to Stereoscopic, you need to do a great job (over) scanning the space. Please see this We Get Around Blog Post by the Matterport VR Team:

Matterport Photographers: 4 Rules for Preparing Models for Virtual Reality (VR)

I could imagine that Matterport wants to focus on its automated CoreVR VR conversion and viewing service.

Dan

P.S. If anyone knows that Matterport is still offering stereoscopic VR conversions, please share here.
