Best Camera Height?3919

Helen private msg quote post Address this user
What do you feel is the best height to set your camera while scanning, for the best field of view of floor to ceiling ratio? I tend to shoot on the low end with camera optics around 4 1/2 to 5 feet.
Just wondering what others shoot at and why?

I'm 5 11" and I line the middle lenses to my eye height so maybe 5 6/7"? I'm struggling to calculate the distance between my eyes and the top of my head tho 😀

Like for architectural photos, an interior looks better with a camera a bit lower... Like you @Helen, we place the camera around 4.5-5'
When you walk the tour, you don't feel like you're a little person at all (so that's good! )

I shoot at about 4.5 feet and it seems to convey a natural perspective. Admittedly, I haven't tried higher or lower. When I first joined the forum I remember reading that this was the proper height, and I've stuck with it ever since!

I agree completely. I started shooting at the recommended 60 inches and I found that I shot a lot of ceiling space and that it was so high that my photos were oddly lobbed off at the bottom. 60 inches is just too high. 4.5 to 5 is right. No matter how high the ceiling is, you don't want lobbed off images and I sell a lot of packages, image and walk through.
