	Screen Grab 1: Before Launching Matterport Spaces 3D Tour Screen Grab 2: After Launching Matterport Spaces 3D Tour AND opening top left box On Monday, 24 October 2016, I scanned one of five floors of an Atlanta museum in exchange for promotional consideration. Here are three things I learned from creating this Matterport Spaces 3D Tour of the first floor exhibit...www.thegatemuseum.info 1. MatterTags matter (a ton) to museums. 2. Matterport needs to enhance annotation of spaces with AUDIO, VIDEO and LONGER MatterTags (105 characters for the DETAILS section of MaterTags text is NOT long enough for a Museum) [See Proof of Concept] 3. I like the We Get Around logo - in two places - on this tour: something that we do NOT do on paid gigs Bonus Learning: the museum plans to share the Matterport Spaces 3D Tour with other Georgia Museums that will be hosting the exhibition. When I delivered the We Get Around WalkAround™ 3D and VR Tour Experiences to the Museum, my cover note included: Virtual Reality (VR) Using either Google Cardboard or Samsung Gear VR, you can view this tour on in VR on a current Android phone. If you like, let’s schedule a visit and I will give you a demo. I could imagine using VR for development (bring the Museum to them) …. Thought-Starters for Some Potential Uses What a great way to help extending the reach of the exhibit across Georgia and around the globe. Zeus is likely to be as excited as we (all) are! Here are some thought-starters for how the Museum might use the 3D and VR tour experiences ... Help Increase Revenue ✓ Imagine 1:1 fund raising meetings bringing a virtual reality experience to help tell the story of the Museum ✓ Events (Life Events, Corporate, Film/TV) ✓ Foundations-Corporate-Individual ✓ Group Ticket Sales (Schools) Help With the Georgia and Global Mission ✓ Website ✓ Media ✓ Virtual Reality ✓ Imagine the “blank” wall virtual exhibit when you convert the conference room to a gallery. Other ✓ Get more art ✓ Insurance ✓ Hiring ✓ Documentation (Museums Save History • Now the History of Museums Experiences Can Be Saved) ✓ 3D Modeling of Exhibitions ✓ Ancillary Revenue (TBD) ✓ Save staff time by giving event space tours to those pre-qualified via 3D Tour Did you learn something by scanning a museum? Hi @DanSmigrod I work regularly with the Auckland War Memorial Museum (an example of which is Minecraft that MP are using in VR as a sample). I have learn't so very much throughout the time that I have been working with them! The museum regularly requests a number of things - as you mentioned - MATTERTAGS with ALOT MORE TEXT!!
Plus with the ability to add sound and video. They would also like to be able to colour code the Mattertags so that the education team can create different types of tours through the same gallery - currently to work around this we have had to create 5 of the same model - meaning 5 lots of permanent hosting costs. Colour coding would remove that additional cost.

They are really pleased with the new VR option however as they can't use cardboard or Samsung VR Headsets (because someone will potentially walk away with it on their head or in their bag) they are wanting the ability to use the tours in Oculis Rift. I questioned MP about this and this was the answer -

"We are evaluating support for the Oculus Rift as well as the HTC Vive and other high end HMD's, however, we have not made any decisions regarding deployment for these devices just yet.
As new standards such as WebVR become more commonplace, it is probably a safe bet that it is just a matter of time before we will support them in some form, but regrettably it is too early to say how or when that will happen.
That said, while basic support for these devices may be a safe bet, features such as "Room Scale VR" where you are able to actually walk around the space instead of just going point to point is not bound to happen any time soon."

However as per usual no times given

Its incredibly rewarding working with the museum and they are my favorite clients hands down! I presume that its the same across the world but I know that our Museums are currently making all of their collections available digitally and we are working alongside them to do this.
