Anyone else getting bad imagery from ceiling fans? See attached photos. I have done several different projects and majority of the time the ceiling fans in the rooms look broken or cut up. The fans are never turned on so can't quite understand why this is happening. E-mailed Matterport a month ago and this is what they said: 'Hit and miss with ceiling fans. Not sure if it's because of how thin the blades are or ? Think it might be a limit of the hardware but then the engineers are always finding ways to do things I thought they couldn't... If we end up coming up with something the would be great. In the meantime if you have access to places with fans end up finding any techniques that work better than others, please let me know.' Thanks Matterport, not helpful at all. ![]() ![]() |

Air from A/C vents could be moving it very slightly?

No that's not it because sometimes the A/C isn't even on.

It's probably the stitching issue with upward looking lens just like a handrail on lower one, I betcha.

Getting back on my soapbox -- It's parallax error caused by Matterport's bad camera design ![]() http://www.johnhpanos.com/epcalib.htm I've come to believe that the next generation Matterport Camera needs to be designed to address this issue as well as capture the Zenith and Nadir (Top and Bottom) of each pano... this would require a smaller camera unit with fisheye lenses IMHO. The question is - was Matterport the product of 3rd party development on an XBOX Kinect-like device, or was the camera the solution to an existing idea and is their platform developed where different cameras would be configurable without too much disruption? So excited to see a solution. In the meantime, if you leave the fan on, does that work better? When I do photography and cannot turn off a fan (it has happened), I sometimes think it looks cool ![]() |

the camera used in matterport is exactly the kinect camera. the cam was invented/made by an israeli company and then sold to other hardware manufacturers for creating other 'complete' devices. thats what i understand. |

@leeverdon Looks like you are far away from the fan too. Generally, we when know we are likely to have a problem, we overscan the space to that we can hide scans with bad stitching. Worth a try? Dan |

Hi all, We can only find out such problems after uploading and processing from Matterport server, right? If we overscan again and again, does this cost another USD 19 for each update and processing? Hoangatuan |
