As I shared in this related post, my impression is that Matterport has improved the Matterport Camera (hardware) at least four times and issued a serial number beginning with a different letter - A, B, C or D - to indicate which generation Camera (without actually changing the name of the Camera (think iPhone 6, iPhone 7, etc.) My question: If you have more than one Camera with a serial number that begins with a different letter - and running the same firmware - do you see any difference either in: 1. how the Camera scans? 2. the resulting scans? Thanks, Dan |

Hi Dan, I have an A and B version and the quality and scanning experience is exactly the same in my opinion. I also wondered about this so I scanned my own home with both cameras. I timed the scans and compared the 3D model quality and they were virtually identical. I have a hard time thinking that matterport would update the hardware without announcing the difference between the different models. The difference in generation is most likely like any other product that is made in batches. Just my two cents. |
