EXCITED IT ARRIVED! I am very happy (and honored) to be first person to test the Giroptic 360 Cam for the Matterport User Group Forum. I am setting up an area in my home to do the unboxing video. Here is a Ricoh 360 scan of the area where we will be doing the video work. I expect we will have something for you to see in about 24 hours. As time goes I will take some exact comparisons of the pictures of this and the Ricoh Theta 360. It is my understanding I will have this for a few weeks then it goes to the next tester. For those of you who do not know me I am an active Realtor in San Diego, I own my own Matterport, drone and video equipment. George Kenner https://theta360.com/s/meZHikwJaLbF1oMlZK1ykqXjM |

@GeorgeK Thank you for reviewing the Giroptic 360cam for the MUG Forum community. Plus, excited that you will do a comparison between Ricoh Theta S. Best, Dan P.S. Hi All, here's some backstory about this Camera being shared among MUG Forum Members. |

Here is the unboxing of the Camera. First let me say I respect anyone / company that can bring a product like this to market. Thus far I think the quality of the packaging and equipment is equal to the Theta S. I do have a few issues with all of this technology. I had to have a micro SD card for this camera, it did not have a card as part of the package. Had I not had a card I would have been frozen! Also like most of these products the instructions are hard to read (font size) but the overall construction is positive. I am charging the unit now and will try and take some time to work with this later today. |

A little update on the Camera. Like most of these cameras the instructions are a bit confusing. Similar to my 3DR SOLO Drone the app contained some of the instructions. Getting Wifi hooked up was somewhat of a challenge. But to be fair so was getting the Theta 360 app and wifi the first time. Thus far I do not have a link or embed option I can find, but I will keep looking. I did get one to post on Facebook but there is really not much of a prompt to let people know it is a active 360 picture. The bottom of the picture does have a much larger dead spot in it than the Theta S and it shows a grayed out area. I have tried to post a picture here that is NOT active but rather looks like a panorama, however the forum has a 3.5MB file size limit. So far it looks like advantage Ricoh Theta S Black. |

@GeorgeK I've been following this camera from the day it went on Kickstarter which was over 2 years ago. I felt that the original images/video were to good to be true that were posted on their Kickstarter page. Sense then I've received updated from Giroptic regularly, one as recent as yesterday and never has the quality been up to the standard that I'd be looking for. I really had my hopes up that this would be the go to 360 camera for shooting video as it even has an external audio input but so far it's been a let down at least from the images that have been posted to me from Giroptic. I've compared all of the current line up of 360 cameras and I have to say that the little Theta S is by far the current winner. I'm more then glad to challenged with superior competitor if anyone in the forum can recommend one that comes in at a reasonable price. |
