| Hi Patti Yes I use a laser for accurate measurement. As you can see in the images, anything above 20-30 ft has a bit of variance. It might not be much, but when you only have 2% tolerance for errors on floor plans it's a lot. I have to carry insurance for errors and omissions for this.       |

| @pattimurray I calculate sf using the measure tool (3D Workshop-->Launch (Button)-->Floor Plan | Select Annotate --> Measure After I measure (see screen grab), I use this square footage calculator. Hopefully Matterport will calculate sf in a future update of workshop. For clarification, I calculate the overall measures less spaces that I do not count. Repeat for each floor. While this process (above) is a bit tedious, after you do 5-10 models, you'll pick up speed. Dan  |

| @DanSmigrod I do floor plans as well. I use a laser on site and do both direction exterior wall measurements. I take a snap of each floor and import into the cad program. Then simply stretch the image and draw the boundary, making sure the internal measurement is the same. The floor plan area is automatically calculated. It's generally about 3 minutes per floor and gives a less than 2% error |
