Viewing models in the Citrix Environment2052

Charles private msg quote post Address this user
Is Citrix causing "clunky" model viewing for any of your clients?

We welcome any advice on how to overcome this.

This is an issue for me. The realtors I work for have to switch to the other work-screen in order to make a tour work. Too bad.

As you may know, Citrix is a remote desktop technology where you're not working directly with a local computer - you're controlling a remote computer. The basic way it works is that the local computer sends mouse movements and keystrokes across the network (LAN or WAN) to the remote Citrix host computer, and resultant screen updates are sent back to the local computer.

High network latency and the amount of screen updating can have a negative impact on performance and on the user's experience. Such issues can be particularly apparent for graphical apps like Matterport - and I am guessing that things display fine when sitting still, and the "clunkiness" occurs when you pan around or move.

There are certain Citrix configuration changes that the Citrix administrator can make to try to optimize performance for screen refresh improvements. And those are well documented on the web. So if you or your customer have access to the administrator then getting them involved is my best advice.

In my past I deployed several CAD apps via Citrix, and some (but not all) performed adequately after making some configuration changes for display improving handling.

As an aside, it would be interesting to know why they are using Citrix as the means of application delivery for Matterport viewing. As a SaaS web app with no locally installed software (except a web browser), Matterport doesn't fall into the category of apps that most companies choose to deploy via Citrix. More often than not, apps deployed via Citrix are large desktop programs.

@Charles most agents on a Citrix solution usually know that Youtube doesn´t work that well either. I usually tell them to check it on their mobile device.

BTW: we should connect, I haven´t seen you around until now?
