ENR: Matterport for 28 airports for punch list of existing conditions

Hi All,

Design firm Corgan has used Matterport for 28 airports for existing conditions.

Punch lists can be developed from scans,” says Los Angeles-based Corgan Senior Associate David Huor in an Engineering News-Record (ENR) online story (24 October 2024).

The ENG article also discussions Matterport integrations with Procore and Autodesk.

Your thoughts?

Best,

Dan

Another good use case for the Matterport technology.

But of course, these airports have contracted Corgan not to create the Matterport scans, but to create the punch lists. Matterport is just a helpful tool, that they have used inhouse.

But I doubt that they would ask independent photographers to shoot these kind of jobs. Too much trouble with onboarding 3rd parties to these (most probably) high security areas.

@meshimages I don’t think approaching an airport is out of the question for photographers.

I approached an international airport with the context of making an online map accessible via QR code. I got an appointment that went 30mins over time.

Unfortunately they didn’t end up going through with it but they had questions like “how attractive will the photos of the airstrip look if taken from the window” etc. They were very interested in the promotional aspect of it.
