I'm in Cheyenne, WY and have had these for a couple of years now. To get an idea of how cold it gets here, our forcast for Sunday is below 0 and winds in the 30-40mph range are not uncommon. The mittens fold back and are held with a magnet, and I like that I can throw some hand warmers in them for especially cold days
