@3dshowcaseuk it depends on your definition of cheap and large or small space. If you’re talking about individual hotel rooms there are so many accurate apps for iPhone or iPad that work great. But become more cumbersome on larger spaces. On larger spaces Cubacasa or iguide might be an option. iguide has an insta floor plan feature now. Hover has an app that works both on Android and Apple but has a 5% error factor. Just a couple of options. When you talk about cheap, it’s hard to decide, you do the work yourself and manually develop your floor plan absorbing your time in the project. Or invest in the right equipment, initial expense but speeds up the manual measurement and drawing frustrations. So when you talk about large spaces, accuracy and cheap it’s hard to point you in one direction. But ultimately Dans option looks really promising. |

@3dshowcaseuk Something to think about. A very large floor plan is very difficult to read. But first I strongly suggest cubicasa with a lidar device such as the one I use which is my iPad pro. Consider doing segments of these properties. So for schools you'll have like a wing and b-wing, library, science department. |

@3dshowcaseuk If price and flexibility matters check as well Polycam. They have a free version of their mobile app where you can export GLT, and as well affordable pro version about 8 USD per month where you can export all most used file formats and scan any volume and choose pointcloud, room plan AI, Lidar based or Photogrammetry as base for your scan. It is probably the most affordable and easy to use and flexible app for mobile and tablets (Android and IOS) and you can even use your account to upload drone images/movie sequences and get back a quite good model in short time. As for all other scan based apps based on our experience we recommend you to add one or more accurate measure (by manual meter or a handheld lidar) so that you can check and calibrate. You can then import the generated mesh or even a pre-made simple floorplan generated directly from your Polycam account into Blender or AutCAD, Sketchup or any other free or proprietary software, to make your plan finish as you like it yourself. If you not want to make the final presentation yourself as mentioned above you can send the scan files to MP2FP, and we will be more than happy to produce your dream floorplan or BIM model. Contact us for an order or a free advisory based on your needs. Since we are a fully independent provider you can send any file from Polycam or any other preferred app or format (even hand-drawn or old architect drawing) to us, if you need high quality delivered in short time the next morning, while we work when you sleep: |
