My friend (proud to know him) Nick Powell in the UK has just posted the first pretty comprehensive demo and review of the Realsee Galois camera / Lidar scanner.

Realsee Galois review

This is as close as we’ve ever seen to a Matterport competitor. One look, and you’d guess this Chinese company reverse-engineered a MP Pro 3. But to give credit, Realsee also appears to be trying to build a lot of value into their system. Such as:

• Real-time 3D dollhouse viewing of the point cloud, as you scan
• built-in color correction tools
• ability to export higher resolution 360 panos than MP can
• ability to retouch these panos, and then… (drum roll)
• ability to re-install retouched panos back to your tour, something only the late GeoCV offered
• ability to select normal or high-density point cloud (increases spin duration from 35 seconds to 60)
• Wide assortment of hotspot icons, and you can change size and color
• WHITE LABELING !!!
• and finally (I think this is possible) self-hosting

Anyway, worth checking this out, whether to consider using or just to be aware of what’s out there.

It’s not all roses. I’ve seen demo images of extreme lighting conditions from dark rooms to bright sun. Galois has automatic HDR but only 3 brackets, fine for indoors but lacking for really broad dynamic range. Nick is talking with Realsee about this and thinks maybe they will increase the brackets with an update. Hope so, as the first images I saw of wide dynamics were enough to discourage me.

Definitely watch this. You’ll learn a lot.

@Home3D great post, I see this video was just released but cannot find the early release option to purchase. I also see you marked white label and see no labels but are the tours able to be downloaded completely for self hosting or do they remain on Realsee’s server. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like approximately $2.50 - $4.20 per tour per month. It sounded like there may be an additional $100 fee per tour to download high-resolution images

It is an interesting product however, there is no mention of any Real Estate integrations ie posting directly to Realtor.com or Zillow/Trulia

My understanding is that self-hosting is possible. Need to learn more. Dan? You want to get Realsee directly on WGAN video?

I presume a URL is the end link, just as for all tours. Direct integration with Redfin and others is, I imagine, a long way off. But any URL can be linked to an MLS or aggregation site. I do it with 3DVista regularly.
