Hey everyone, here is a recent job I did. It’s not cleaned up but you’ll get the point. It’s my biggest one yet!

@Benrk0385

WOW! Thank you for sharing.

That's an awesome, large example of Matterport (indoors/outdoors).

Did your client mind about the transition to night-time?

In addition to @jcyin question about how long, can you share with us:

1. How long? (days?)
2. Which camera?
3. Scan failures?
4. Challenges with scanning such a large space?
5. Client's reaction?
6. Anything else to share with us about creating a Matterport tour of this large space?

Best,

Dan

Hey Dan,

Thanks for the comment.

1. It took me about 33 hours over the course of 4 nights and 4 days.
2. I used my Pro 3
3. I had under 5 scan failures and probably around 10 misalignments which put my scan point in a completely different location. Solved this by putting my tripod in a different location each time after it misaligned. Sometimes I would have to look at the past scans and visually make the two scans match(because something was moved)in order for it to have a better chance of aligning.
4. My biggest challenge was coordinating with staff to unlock certain areas in a timely manner before the guests rushed in.(I got locked in the pool area one morning). Also, my camera was overheating in the sun. I did this during our hot hot summer days that we had here on the east coast and it pushed my timeline back because I couldn’t work during daylight hours.
5. The Client was blown away!
6. Don't let a large space intimidate you. Dress comfortably, be vigilant in planning out your route. I stood at one spot for a half hour trying to get the software to align. Finally got it and kept on moving! I’ll take on any challenge after scanning this large space! Also, this entire job was go, go, go, because of so many guests and I only had so much time to get it done. It was tough, but fun!

Thanks Dan!

Gotta stop sharing everyone. I jumped the gun on this one. Sorry! Won’t happen again.
