I've been scanning Matterport models for clients for about 6 months. I've done well over (50) different projects. I use a ThetaZ1 to capture everything - from 1,000sf to 30,000sf. It's worked well. There are some frustrating times when I have alignment issues but usually thru the processing phase it all seems to work out.

I don't care about image "quality" 0 because I think all the cameras do a good job and my clients would never know the difference. I'm more interested in accuracy of alignment, etc. I'm curious what everyone's thoughts are on whether a Pro2/Pro3 would provide better alignment and not be as frustrating at times having to delete scans and try to make the in-field model work.

Keep in mind...I love traveling with a small ThetaZ1 and tripod. So...is a Pro2/Pro3 really worth it?

Thanks for your thoughts.

a Pro 3 would be a great help! I have several videos about it on my youtube channel. search for Sparks Media Group on there.

Pro3 would be an excellent choice, but if you're not able to invest $6K + now, I would not overlook the Pro2...it does a pretty good job in most situations (except for outdoors in the sun and in larger featureless spaces). At MatterFix.io we have Pro2 cameras for sale for $800 up to $1100 and they come with free shipping, a hard case and a one year warranty.

I've been doing this for a long time and getting a used Pro 2 will fix most issues. Although if there is sunlight you can't use. I've used both Pro 2 and z1 in scans and that works very well.
