How To: Divided Retail Space - Scanned As One Space?18386

Need some advice…

I have a retail client that wants to take over two spaces that adjoin each other. They would like a single scan of the entire space. The trick is, there is no door or access between the spaces. They plan on tearing down the wall. How can I scan both spaces as one space?

Maybe a Mattertag with a deep link that takes you from one to the other? You'd need one from each space. I did this with a huge old shipyard where there were no pass throughs between adjacent spaces and it worked fine.

So…just curious. Would this count as (2) spaces on my account? I’m assuming it would…because I’d basically have to scan them as separate projects.

I know it’s cumbersome but can’t you scan around the building from front door to front door. Then thru doors, May have to do it early hours so sun does not impact scans. How big of space are you talking about?

I tried that…but was having all kinds of issues scanning outdoors and having scans align. It’s two 2000sf spaces next to each other..

Were you doing during bright sun? If you scan the interior anytime but do the exterior in low light and shorter distance between scan it might work.

If they are connected by outdoor path and it is not long you can do a path outdoor with a Pro2 before sunrise. Just check Sunrise time in your area subtract 30 minutes and that's about your start time. The Pro2 will work outside during this time as good as indoor. Or it can be 30 minutes after sunset.

Actually 30 minutes is a lot of time even for a pro2. Even with 2-3 meters spacing between scans you can easily do 100-150 meters long path.

As mentioned above, I think your best solution is to navigate outside if you want it all in ONE model.

If you are ok with TWO Matterport models, you can connect them with a Mattertag and/or a custom player like the one created with Show & Tour below:
