Robot/AI Assistant Alert: Meta AI Releases Habitat-Matterport 3D Semantics dataset | Training Home Robots & AI assistants at Scale for semantic navigation tasks.

Today [13 October 2022] we’re releasing the Habitat-Matterport 3D Semantics dataset, the largest public dataset of real-world 3D spaces with dense semantic annotations.

HM3D-Sem is free and available to use with FAIR's Habitat simulator: Habitat Matterport 3D Semantics Dataset

The HM3D-Sem dataset consists of:

- 216 high-resolution 3D scenes
- 3,100+ rooms
- 140,000+ object annotations
- 14,000+ hours of human annotation

Unlike other datasets, HM3D-Sem uses texture information to annotate pixel-accurate object boundaries.

Object Goal Navigation policies trained using HM3D-Sem outperform those trained on prior datasets.

Researchers can use HM3D-Sem w/ FAIR’s Habitat simulator to train embodied agents (home robots & AI assistants) at scale for semantic navigation tasks.
