I rushed out and started doing some of my routine scans using the Pro3 this past weekend. I tried to be as mindful as possible of assembling the new gear deliberately and in a stepwise fashion. Here are a few things I noted after uploading the models (both are for vacation rentals) (observations in no particular order):

1. Did not have a single "low overlap", "scan alignment error", etc from either model scanning
2. The shorter scan time was definitely noticeable in the overall job times - shortened a 45 minute job in both cases to about 35 minutes.
3. The scanning of condo balconies (including a huge wrap-around balcony) went very well - the dollhouse is perfect, which blows me away after years of "black holes".
4. I did not see any stitching errors, which are so incredibly commonplace with the Pro2. The usual culprits - ceiling fans, railings, door frames - showed none of that.
5. However, I had some issues doing a "door closed - door open" in the condo living room. It creates more mesh from a distance apparently than the Pro2. Even applying the "Dee Johnson trim sandwich" to the glass sliding doors in question did not remove enough mesh to comfortably go through the opening.

One negative: I like the design generally and really appreciate that the thing isn't so top-heavy. However, because of the weight distribution, it places stress on the central axis. I was not pleased to see their material choice for the clamp on the quick-release. It seams that this would be susceptible to breaking over time. I would have used a quality high-tensile aluminum alloy or carbon fiber. I hope this is not an issue.

Other than that, the system seems to be well thought out and really delivers a great model. I'm sorry that I can't share the actual models because of client confidentiality.

The building is called The Kendeda Building for Innovative Sustainable Design, and the surrounding grounds are called the Eco-Commons. Both are part of the Georgia Tech campus.

It was originally scanned with Pro2 and BLK360, prior to the release of the Pro3. A few months later, about 500 Pro3 scanpoints were added. Altogether, the current version has 1,129 scans.

Had the Pro3 been available when we initially scanned, it would have gone much more quickly, and required less scan points. The 500 scans were completed in about 8 hours of scanning time.

Needs some editing still, but figured it was worth sharing. Some of the interesting shots are in the highlight reel.
