I’ve been spending some time researching about the so called metaverse to see how can we benefit from it since we are digitalizing real world spaces using matterport. Do you guys think we will be able to “sell” our spaces in the future, or even better, get paid for visits like YouTube does for views or something. And if there is any way you guys are integrating this two things together right now, how is it? |

Nobody will care about the appearance of what we shoot because the walls and grounds will be riddled with ads. Maybe we could better control the content we deliver with ad blockers an rejoice. World of Ads |

Yes this is a deep and dark rabbit hole. I think Matterport will just sell all our tours to Meta , seeing they own our content. There is a lot of other tech that can be used for the Metaverse, so its going to be interesting to see what is going to come to market, and secondly seeing 60% of the developed worlds population sitting with VR headsets detaching from the real world. Who here have plugged into the Metaverese or created content , what are your thoughts ? Or is it just another bandwagon everyone will try and jump on again. |

Headsets have their place in gaming and training, but they are profoundly antisocial and contradict the human experience. They separate us, and not into groups like our current politics, but into isolated souls. Seven billion lonely souls. Zuckerberg likes it. If that’s not an indictment, what is? |

@VTLV I like the idea of adds in the wall. Recently I was trying to work with an interior designer and he mentioned that maybe we could talk to some furniture stores to charge them for advertisement using mattertags. So this could be an additional way to monetize. But as the rest of you have said, I'm sure matterport will just sell our models to Meta. |

I believe Facebook is just trying to trick everyone with their name Metaverse and positioning it as something global. I caught myself thinking the same which just made me sick realising that a company with such low standards who has barely developed anything but facebook will own something big on a global scale. My prediction 3D world will grow on the internet and we will have personal/business websites in 3D and then just jump from one to another. Facebook will have their own social 3D world as a part of it. I am more concerned with somebody's buying some land in Metaverse already and paying millions for it. Do these people realise that they not buying it worldwide, definitely not even buying anything real and in another 3D world that may belong to Microsoft or Apple the same land can be sold again not to mention that Facebook can sell the same land again on top of already purchased one. As for 360 tours or Matterport tours I bet there will be a demand from private and business people who cannot afford their website to be made in true 3D. But if you want to be a big part of 3D worlds then may be it is time to learn 3D software. |

It's a marketing gimmick, and it's not going to take over the world. Every time I hop on my bike and I take a ride through the woods, I'm in a place Mark Zuckerberg can never manipulate. Terra firma baby.

@Wingman it’s so funny how people buy “land” in the “metaverse” when there will be unlimited different metaverses…

Article in the Times of London where the journalist entered the metaverse and in minutes was being sexually harassed and offered pornography. Young kids should not be able to access it but apparently very easy to bypass controls. @Josequinones I remember Second Life (still exists) where a friend sold a lot of her art to be placed in Second Life homes - she made a couple of thousand dollars. Apparently, it is still in existence and is very popular with the mentally and physically handicapped, and the shy, who can lead lives that are well beyond their normal capabilities. |
