Hi all,

I have a client that is asking for a scan of a 12,000 sq ft restaurant and needs the matterpak for architectural renderings for a new restaurant. They are also redesigning the exterior facade. Are exterior panos of the exterior included in the matterpak so they can be used by the architect to create the new facade, or do they need to be part of the 3D tour?

I'm not real familiar with Matterpaks so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi @rzphotoman
If you are scanning with a Pro2 camera, only the internal spaces will be scanned and measured. 360 outside pictures are just images.
If you are using a BLK 360, then you'll have the complete point cloud of both the inside and the outside of the building.

@rzphotoman

Additionally, you may want to see if the Matterport's new Add On - BIM file - is helpful to your client.

If you scan outdoor near a property and it is not too tall and not too far away for a pro2 to see the whole facade you should get both interior and exterior data.

With a Blk360 who can easily see 20m and more in full sunlight you can even capture 5-6 storey high facade. I did not order Matterpack for either of the two following tours but you can clearly see ny BLK360 have captured most of the facade as high as it could reach for multi storey apartment building and for a two storey residential property.

If I were doing it for a Matterpack it would be strange to receive one with internal data only.

SCAN TO CAD FILE SERVICE Baezeni private msg quote post Address this user
@rzphotoman

As a many year WGAN member and service provider of 3D CAD and BIM modeling and custom 2D and 3D Floorplans from Matterport scans we confirm that you should be able to get produced a fully Interior/Exterior CAD and/or BIM model from a Matterport scan as described above. If use Matterport standard gear and to get covered the exterior we recommend to add some extra 360 camera spots to cover all exterior facades. These in additional to the complete interior model shall be enough to produce a full 3D engineering model.

To get the accuracy the best always order the Matterpak file with the XYZ file in addition to the Matterport project. You or the architects can then if you have the knowledge from this data produce a 3D CAD or BIM model, or you can send the link and Matterpak to us and we will give you a direct feedback with a good price and fast delivery time for a complete model at the required format you want. We have done hundreds of 3D CAD and/or BIM models in many years both based on Matterport scans and as well other types of input.

Most common formats are Revit (or IFC), DWG or Sketchup. As well not forget to indicate the wished accuracy level, where LOD 200 or LOD 300 is most common from a Matterport scan. We can guide you further with details based on your input and needs.

Maybe another way to get 3D mesh from a Pro2 would be to give 360 pictures to a software as Recap photo.
Accuracy is much lower than Pro2 and even lower than a BLK.
