| It's always good to be aware of your competitors, but it's terrible to compare apples to oranges. If you compare yourself to others, be comprehensive. If you only compare prices, you set yourself up to be paid the lowest rates. If you compare your services on all counts - price, quality, customer service, dependability - then you're demanding the best of yourself and you'll compete only with those at your level. Who walks into a Mercedes dealer and asks "How much for a car? I can get a car across the street for less." You'll be laughed out of the showroom, and you know it. Would anyone reading this go on Craiglist ask post "I need open heart surgery. Will go with lowest price." When I get a call from a new client and their first question is "What does Matterport cost?" I suggest that they call around. I assure them that some people work cheaper than I do, and that they'll get what they pay for. On the other hand, if their FIRST question is about procedures, services, availability, reputation and they want to see our past work... I know I have an intelligent customer on the line and I try my best to help them achieve success. Decide today: Will you seek work based on low cost / low service, or delivering the best of everything? If you prefer the former, great. Just know what you stand for. |

| Dan, you’ve outdone yourself. Hilarious. This now competes, comedically, with the call I just got from Toyota service. My Prius displays a dashboard warning ‘parking assist malfunction’ so I dropped it off for repair. Toyota called, reporting that mice have eaten the wiring in my front bumper. As it’s not a manufacturer defect, the $1300 repair isn’t covered. He also said it’s a problem all over Los Angeles, however some people say that placing Bounce Dryer Pods around the engine compartment will drive them away. |
