Tip for MLS's that use "MATRIX"1572

Thought I'd pass along a discovery I made a while back:

My MLS uses a web program called MATRIX (http://www.mris.com/mris-products/core-products-services/matrix) which is essentially the Realtor's access to the MLS database and the program they use to add photos, listing comments, search for other listings, email listings to clients, etc.

There's a VIRTUAL TOUR field in this MATRIX program which is where the 3D Showcase link is entered to then appear on public sites.

I've found that there's often issues with this MATRIX program when the link is copied and pasted with a https:// my.matterport.etc.etc.etc. link, whereas when the "s" is dropped so that it is http:// my.matterport.etc.etc.etc. it loads fine.

I think many MLS's use MATRIX, so if you happen to be in a state or province that does, bear this is mind in case it is a problem at times for your realtor clients using that program.

But browsers automatically will change it back to the https - for example, if you do a test - I took the "S" out here:

http://my.matterport.com/show/?m=utcu2dkSPdi

the browser automatically recognizes it's a secure protocol and will change the address back to https.

Are you saying Matrix itself won't take it with the "S" but will without?

The issue I've experienced isn't in inserting the link into a browser, but rather clicking on the Virtual Tour icon within MATRIX to load the 3D model.

I'm not sure what causes the problem, but sometimes there's a failure to load the model direct from that Matrix Virtual Tour icon when the link is inputted as https, but seems to work fine when inserted as http. And then, yes, as soon as it opens in a new browser window it comes back as https.

If I remember I'll try to take a screen shot of what it looks like when failing to load.

as a realtor this happens with most links posted in the virtual tour spot....you need to chop off the entire https:// for it to always work.
