Hey Alex. Good to meet you.

Great news about REA and domain. I assume you will be pushing the Matterport 3D showcases directly and not showcases wrapped in your Scann3d interface? Cause that would be a serious problem for the rest of the community

Our end goal is to work with the portals to change the implementation level of 3D content, for example 3D Showcases taking a high priority on a listing similar to video today, the process will still just involve inputting whatever content you want into the "Virtual Inspection" section on the portals CMS, whether it be a matterport player or your own api.

Hey guys, some really exciting times ahead in the real estate industry. We have recently done a deal with Jellis Craig to visualise there listings. This will have great flow on effects for our industry as Jellis Craig are a market leader, meaning other real estate agnecy's will be looking to follow suite in the near future.

Here is a quick promo video that is being used to promote Jellis Craigs use of the technology.

@Scann3d Wow. Well done and thank you for cracking these guys. All the others will look at this and want to follow. I guess I won't approach them now.

@scann3d nice one guys. Be sure to leave some for the rest of us . But yeah showcasing your deal with JC will help the rest of us promote this awesome tech and hopefully make 3D a norm for real estate in Aus.

Hi

Marcia here from Property3D in New Zealand - thanks Tim for letting me know about this thread.

I was working in Perth doing Real Estate photography for ABC Photosigns and have been back in New Zealand for a year. I started working with the Matterport a week ago and I'm stunned at what it can do!
We have had some issues with sun and heat creating black areas which we have consequently had to go back and reshoot at another time - is there anyway you can correct this in retouching? We have had a 3D modelling guy look at it and he wasn't able to help..

Thanks in advance!

Marcia

Welcome! No, none that I'm aware of. We just check the orientation of the property at time of booking to best avoid these issues. We also shoot some scans with blinds closed to build the model but the. Disable these after.

Hey Guys, I was wondering what you do or how you explain the loading time to clients? depending on the internet connection or computer used, we have found the model load time ranges from 15 to 90 seconds.

Is there anything we can to do to be able to speed up the load time?
Does the size of the model effect the load time?

internet speeds in Australia are shocking!! and remote hosting doesn't help

It doesnt really look like the MP scans are taking off for anyone in AU so far. The speeds and how it's marketed is a main factor.

For real estate we try to sell the service not as a marketing tool but rather an inspection tool. For marketing you need high def images and video, something that can capture someones attention in less than 2 minutes. Once they are interested they shouldn't mind taking the time to load and view a model to inspect further.

We'll that's the theory at least

Hey all.

Been doing a bit of research on this and seems like a go for me.

Just wanted to be sure..you can upload/link on realestate.com.au and domain.com.au at this time like a video?

The above quote seems to explain this but just wanted to be sure.

Also @Alexander Would you share how you get crisp wall endings on your models? is this something you do post?

cheers,
Steve.

Correct. I understand VR will be elevated above video, which has been largely polluted on RE by slideshows.

While theres nothing official just yet I can point you at, the recommendation is to continue delivering 3D models using one of the two 'virtual tour' links for Realestate.com.au - these can come via REAXML or our backend agent admin system. This is currently a stop gap but we'll be looking to detect and treat this content as 3D shortly so using these fields now is the recommendation.

Heya! And welcome!

BTW I've got mine coming over too which I used the aus post shopmate for which seems a mistake. I don't want to write out all the issue but my camera is stranded at the US warehouse since last Thursday because I updated my email on the aus post account and it has glitched out the system.

Has been very frustrating trying to get them to get it all fixed and am worried it will be damaged as it is just sitting around for a week or more..

Lesson learned is to go with a company that does it all themselves and does not used 3rd parties to contract out too.

Edit* Is the packaging as done normally fine for o/s travel? Or did you all get extra packaging done?
