Message received Thursday, 1 July 2021 Hi All, Have you received this DMCA Copyright Infringement Notice Scam? I did NOT click on the link. Instead, I sent this short email ... And, received this bounced email notice. I could image that the sender is targeting photographers because we care about not using another photographer's images without permission. Best, Dan |

I received this one: From: Mel <Mephotographer9909@gmail.com> Subject: You have no legal rights to use my images for pixelrayphotography.com without my permission! It's against the law! You're committing a legal offense! You must remove them NOW!!!!! Message Body: Hello, This is Melcia and I am a professional illustrator. I was puzzled, frankly speaking, when I recognised my images at your web-site. If you use a copyrighted image without an owner's license, you'd better know that you could be sued by the owner. It's unlawful to use stolen images and it's so low! Take a look at this document with the links to my images you used at pixelrayphotography.com and my earlier publications to obtain the evidence of my copyrights. Download it now and check this out for yourself: https://[@DanSmigrod Inserted This to break the link]sites.google.com/view/58854009345734001/drive/storage/shared/files/download?h=619673933092717542 If you don't remove the images mentioned in the document above during the next few days, I'll file a complaint on you to your hosting provider letting them know that my copyrights have been severely infringed and I am trying to protect my intellectual property. And if it doesn't work, you may be pretty damn sure I am going to report and sue you! And I will not bother myself to let you know of it in advance. The first time I received this, I fell for it. I clicked the Google Drive link and immediately knew I screwed up when nothing was there. I'm not sure what went on to happen after that...I did have a few clients that received emails that appeared they were from me asking them to update their payment info...but I'm not sure it was from that or not. I'm so SICK of people that try and make a living screwing over others. I recently had over 10,000 of equipment stolen from a job site too. Just completely disgusted with human behavior. |

I got a call from a customer who I did a Google Street view scan for, who claimed an entity said that the photographer (me) was using technology that they developed without proper licensing. And I did this all through Matterport. Alarmed, I quickly thought through the entire mechanism of my relationship to matterport and matterport's relationship to Google. I told my client to ignore the email they never were bothered again. | ||
