| Hey everyone! Just got an email from MP about the offer. Now saving $1,384 for new purchase of Pro2. Pro1 still supported on my account (all though I never use it). I have a Pro2 I have had for about 3 years. Works fine, always has... And, I would love to know that I have a backup, if needed, by purchasing a new Pro2. My Theta Z1 just doesn't do the same quality job. I ask MP directly about a new camera coming. I got an indirect answer. The dollars are a no brainer as far as the investment goes. I've gotten great return on the Pro2 I have. I just dont want to invest in the Pro2 if a new one is coming out. Like the Pro1, Im sure the Pro2 will be supported a while... and... What would you do? |

| With all the promos, no doubt a "Pro 3" is coming, with Lidar. My questions are: • whether there will be full compatibility between the Pro 3 Lidar and previous Pro camera's data sets, so you can seamlessly switch between them? I'm guessing "yes" just as you can mix-n-match Pro and BLK360 Lidar data. • Will the Lidar depth-scanning reach further than the Pro 2's about 8-10 feet? • Will the camera scan rotation speed be faster? Slower? • Will the Wifi upload speed be faster? Slower? • Will the alignment speed be faster? Slower? OF COURSE - Matterport is unloading all their Pro 2 cameras before the big Pro 3 announcement. Duh! But what we need to know (and probably won't unless we find a mole inside MP) is the practical differences in the new camera. If there are breakthroughs in speed, accuracy and flexibility we'll regret all our new Pro 2s. If the primary difference is only the Lidar's ability to work in full sunlight, it's not as big a change, though still very significant. Anyone know a mole? |
