I just received my camera. Question - I have an older ipad 3 with 64gb - seems to work (slow) but after 3 scans getting tripod unstable errors - Could it be the older ipad? I am 99% sure the camera is stable and level | ||

The Matterport camera is extremely fussy about its tripod. I have at least a half dozen tripods sitting around here and none of them would work properly with the Matterport. This includes even my old reliable Lester Bogen tripod that is sturdy in the extreme. I eventually gave up and bought the Manfrotto tripod that the Matterport manufacturer recommends and haven't had any trouble since. I think it is highly unlikely that your old iPad is causing the problem. Best, Rick Odato, Suncoast Skyview Sarasota, FL |

I found my older I pad was worthless. No only was it slow it would get to about 20 scans and stop all together. Another $1000.00 and the new Ipad pro and all the issues disappeared. But I do not think the I pad is the cause of the unstable warning from the camera. |

@marswalker I bought a MT055XPRO3 and I attach my Matterport directly to it without a quick release or anything (I bought the suggested attachment, but it owuldn't fit). I have never felt such an attachment to a Tripod. I use an iPad 4 w/32GB RAM and it works fine. I do tours up to 200 Scans regularly. If you are looking to save money, you would be fine with an iPad4. This being said, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that an iPad Air 2 would be better. Has anyone benchmarked the difference in scan speeds between iPad models using the same location? I would love to see that! |
