PART 107 TEST CHANGES IN 2021: NO MORE RECURRENT TEST, NIGHT FLYING AND MORE Just saved $109 Part 107 renewal coming due in a couple weeks. Timing couldn't be better. Tried scheduling a renewal test and nobody was getting back. This article explains why. The new version of the FAA recurrent test, which is simply an online training course, will be free and available on www.FAASafety.gov |

To clarify: 1) The new recurrent training which covers new rules for night flying and flying over people will be available on April 6 - ALC-677. The format is not certain yet, but the expectation is that it will work like the other FAA online courses; i.e., there will be an online exam available after the completion of the training course. This exam, when completed successfully with a passing grade, is what will qualify you for re-currency for another 24 months. 2) Initial Part 107 certification will still require taking the exam at a PSI testing center for $160. |

I think we are getting somewhere to start with https://www.faasafety.gov/gslac/ALC/CourseLanding.aspx?cID=677&fbclid=IwAR3-K-Rm_dkpzF3vDFWNzv7ozDqSNOGQMqsZ0RSvaaJZf9AnY1cqBY9_Dvk

Note that new rules for night flying and flying over people, once having passed the exam, don't take effect until April 21. Also note, that, as far as I've heard, there are no drones available yet that qualify for the two categories allowed for flight over people.

It has been suggested that, unless you are the end of your currency period this week, you should not try to logon to the site. They are expecting a large amount of traffic and fearful that too much traffic may cause it to crash. Wait a few days if you can.
