VentureBeat (12 March 2021) Why Accenture lists ‘digital twins’ as top-five technology trend in 2021 While the article does not mention Matterport, it is an important story. "In 2019, Gartner suggested that 75% of organizations would be implementing digital twins within the next year. This year, Accenture has positioned digital twins as one of the top five strategic technology trends to watch in 2021. The reason is that businesses are finally figuring out how to scale these projects across a fleet of projects, rather than a single one-off, Accenture Technology Labs managing director Michael Biltz said," reports VentureBeat. Your thoughts? Dan |

I wouldn't expect Matterport to be mentioned in this article, it's addressing a different context and a different set of use cases...GIS is only briefly mentioned. You have to think of a digital twin in this context as a true virtual representation of a physical asset (in that everything that can be done with the physical asset can be done with the virtual asset with the benefit that you don't break the physical asset if you twiddle the red knob a bit too much). Matterport isn't the tool for this...Unity and Unreal are much better suited as essentially your building a business gaming environment for want of a better term...although I'm sure the big boys have much better platforms than that. | ||
