I've heard Matterport can only produce floor plans from a Matterport scan if it was shot with a Matterport camera or Leica BLK 360. Are there any other Matterport features that are limited like that? I'm planning on getting a Theta Z1 (or Z2 if it comes out) and need to know what extras I can offer with scans. Thank you |

Matterport ism limited prescriptively. Respectfully, Matterport's system is tailored to the amateur which admittedly, we all are to one degree or another but that said. a DSLR, a decent tripod, a Ninja or equivalent and a small learning curve will save you thousands and serve you and your family. Your Matterport camera will serve you in one manner; 360* simplicity for their site; that's it. You can do this with the same investment in a quality DSLR, some time and a little knowledge which you can get anywhere on the net and stillĀ use your equipment for the family and friends for decades to come. | ||

@aidanashby You can order floorplans only from Pro2, I you order floorplans at Matterport. But you can get better floorplans (and cheaper) shot with any 360 camera or even from sketches, if you order at Home3Ds for example. There are many more service providers available online. If you need precise measurements in your floorplan (for BIM or CAD), then you will probably need the Pro2 or even the blk360. |

Floor plans can also be ordered from Matterport or many others from models built from Pro 1 camera scans. There is no difference between the data from Pro 1 and Pro 2 cameras except for the resolution of the photos - Pro 2 is twice higher resolution. The accuracy of floor plans from both is identical and if you're scanning for construction type work as opposed to retail / sales, a Pro 1 works great. On the other hand, I don't think anyone interested in Matterport should invest in a Pro 2 or used Pro 1. Doing Matterport without depth data is, IMHO, silly. Oh, and there is no relation between Home3D and Home3Ds, except I guess they loved the name of my company! (so must have good taste!) |
