THIS IS A HOOT! Great fun. Has anybody on WGAN tried it? Couple questions:

1) Can this be done using a Mac? I know that a lot of cool stuff of this nature is PC only.

2) Was it easy or time-consuming to create? Would love to know!

Hi there,

I am the creator/inventor of PanoPuzzle

Can you use it on a Mac -
it's stuff to put on a web site so you can access it from a Mac/PC/Mobile but it is NOT an application - just check out my live version with a browser of your choice

Was it time consuming

Yes it was - but that was me programming.

Will it be time consuming for you??
Depends how far you want to go.
My current live version has over 80 panoramas in 7 collections - so no matter how and what you do - you will have to write some text/links/prepare images.... for all of them.

If you want to try it on your server - and yes you need either a web site or you can use a local server - it can be as easy as putting 6 images in a directory and you can start to play.

One of the examples on GitHub - the grid demo can be used.
You just put 6 images in a directory and you can start to play.
That's what Mic did for his 360rumors example and others.

@kronpano

Thanks for joining the WGAN Forum and for your post; including the links.

Have you given some thought to an easy-peasy template for newbies? For example, use this code and add one 360? Or, for non-techs like me:

1. Go to your website
2. Upload one 360
3. Receive an email back with iFrame to add to your website
4. (include in the iFrame: Courtesy of PanoPuzzle and link back to your site)
5. Want the courtesy of PanoPuzzle removed, pay x per month for hosting.

Thoughts?

What have been your favorite implementations by others?

Business use case? Fun for kids?

I have thought about a web service but that is probably not going to happen.
The framework which is provided via GitHub is something that runs in a browser - just javascript.
There is no backend, no server or anything like that - and some of that would be needed to make it into a service as you describe it.
If it turns out that there is a bit of interest I will keep developing it but I am not sure if I can actually make it into a service - it is more likely to end up being a plugin for krpano, marzipano or other VT creation tools.

Business use case

I have to say it is questionable that there is a use in a professional environment.
It does prolong the time people spend "in" a panorama (analytics says about 2 minutes per pano) but how to translate that into something "useful" for a business - frankly - I'm not sure.
I use it on PanoPuzzle to link to "real" virtual tours or software I used in the process

Fun for kids

Definitely - lots of them seem to like some of the generated environments and they get very excited when the can solve a puzzle of a place they know (ages 5-10).

Favourites by others

People have literally just started using it - the code only went onto GitHub about a week ago.

@kronpano

Thanks for the backstory. It is FUN!

Perhaps a WGAN Member will have an idea you (and they) can make money with it!

Best,

Dan
