| In my opinion, for sheer quality, there is not a lens on the planet to beat the Canon EF 14 mm f/2.8L II USM Lens Its expensive, but if you level the camera there is no barrel distortion, in other words all the vertical straight lines in the image are just that, straight. The colour balance is neutral, the image pin sharp, and the depth of focus can be from 18 inches to infinity. For architectural/real estate it can deliver an image of a small space that looks natural, but is at the limit before distortion creeps in. Back in the days when I shot events, this meant you could be in a very crowded situation and still get a group shot. I also use Canon FE 8-15mm F/4L which on paper covers 14mm, but not without distortion. | I shoot Fuji X bodies (H1's and T2). Several years ago I "upgraded to the 8 - 12 f2.8" from the 10-24 f4 and traded toward the 8-12. While I like the little bit of wide angle = 12mm (effective) of the 8-12, I missed the ability to zoom in on features like ranges, table place settings and other details. I actually hardly ever shoot that wide unless it's a kitchen and very small. So when the 10-24 was upgraded to a weather version I grabbed it. Compare $1k to $2k. If I didn't have a need for the 8-12 f 2.8 in other parts of my photography I would not get it for Real Estate. Both of these lenses are tack sharp and I tend to carry a mid range zoom with me for both of them. On the 10-24 I carry the 18-135 fuji and on the 8-12 I carry the 12-55 f 2.8. | Correction: UK figure is Sterling, not Euro. So Germany is cheapest for a EU Vat-registered business to buy from, as it's 0% VAT to purchase from another EU country. |
