I have been trying to learn my new Theta Z1 and the whole 360 thing. It's frustrating. I can't get the wi-fi connection between it and my iPhone (new 12 Pro Max, since my old 8 Plus's battery gave out earlier this week) stable enough to shoot my 3/2 apartment. Bluetooth won't connect at all. Is it just me? Did I get a bad sample? |

Often when I experience wifi issue with any of my Ricoh 360 cameras it's due to it connecting to another one of my iOS devices. Try turning off the wifi on any other iPhones or iPads you may have connected to the Z1 at one time and just turn on wifi on your 12 Pro Max | ||

Thanks, Gentlemen! I appreciate the responses. I've tried everything I know, and still no luck. I suspect a bum unit. I've dropped a line to Ricoh technical support. |

UPDATE: Theta tech support pointed out what I had overlooked: when the camera goes to sleep, the network connection between it and the phone is broken. In my home environment, the phone then automatically re-connects to my home wi-fi. The solution is to turn off the sleep function and go to Settings on the phone to switch the wi-fi connection from my home network to the camera. This isn't likely to be a problem when shooting a property where you're not connected to any wi-fi at the property. I'm inclined to leave sleep off entirely, to avoid interruptions while shooting, though that does mean power management is a manual affair. (Did I mention the Z1's battery life is dismal? No, but everyone else has? Groovy!) I also like @Lambda_Photography's idea of dedicating a phone to use with the Z1. It will have to be Android to use the Dual Fisheye plug-in remote control. I have an old Samsung I can put to that use for the time being. As an aside, I'm looking forward to tomorrow's Live at 5 with InsideMaps. |

@dndavis Hi, Please check the upgrade of the Ricoh Theta firmware, the Thetas usually require a Firmware upgrade out of the box. Please follow this guide here to update the Firmware.
