Someone Please Define 360 Tour vs 3D Tour12910

I know what I would consider the difference to be, but I’m curious as to what criteria others use. I bring it Up, as I have seen several posts referencing that one is inferior to the other. From a purely technical standpoint
, I’ve never seen a 3D tour platform.

It’s not a trick question - I would just like to know, as I’m not sure if my understanding of the difference is correct.

Thanks,
Bill

Ha! Does this make it more confusing?

3D Tours, Virtual Tours, Slideshows and Video Tours. What's the difference?

One of the comments that triggered my question was one stating that 3D Vista is entering the 3D tour arena. Another post stated something along the lines of: 360 tours like Eyespy360 do not compare to 3D tours like Matterport. None of these platforms provide a 3 dimensional experience. So I assumed the posts were referring to either spatial accuracy/measurement or the walkthrough transitions.

I consider Matterport and GeoCV as 3D virtual tours because they may not obviously using 3D data in their tours but they capture all data to generate a 3D model of a property. There is another one(I believe it is IGuide) that is using a lidar to capture in 3D but everything else which is not using LiDARs does not deserve a "3D virtual tour" term, it is just 360 degree photos linked together so they produce 360 degree virtual tours.

I myself call Matterport 3D tour also for another reason. That's how they are called on two major property listing websites. Calling it 360 won't bring too many customers from real estate as they will be looking for a service provider to do a 3D tour.
