Asteroom virtual tour created from this Matterport Digital Twin shot with a Matterport Pro1 3D Camera by We Get Around Atlanta. Images were lightly retouched by Asteroom (automatically included in workflow for WGAN Members). Identical Tours: Matterport (73 Scans) Versus Asteroom (20 Scans) Hi All, ✓ This Matterport tour has 73 scans and shot with a Matterport Pro1 3D Camera. ✓ This Asteroom tour (above) has 20 scans (created from the same scans in the Matterport tour). I recall that it took our team member 3-4 hours to shoot the 3,049 SQ FT townhome using a Matterport Pro1 3D Camera. If I shot the same townhome today with a 360s with a Ricoh Theta Z1 - shooting the same 20 360s - the shoot would have lasted 15 minutes, according to Asteroom. Both tours (above) include: ✓ 3D Dollhouse ✓ 2D Schematic Floor Plans The Asteroom tour includes the additions of: ✓ display measurements publicly enabled ✓ Dan Smigrod nadir logo patch globally added to all 360s (branding opportunity) ✓ Matterport camera removed from two bathroom mirrors ✓ colors of 360s brightened [Asteroom automatically professionally edits the 360s for WGAN Members] ✓ I could have added: audio to each 360 and the equivalent of MatterTags (Asteroom calls them Hotspots) While some will (likely) argue that with a Matterport Pro2 3D Camera and latest iPad, the scanning time would be dramatically reduced; and scanning time could be reduced further by fewer scans in in each room ... That said, my key takeaway is the amount of time that it takes to shoot an Asteroom tour is far less than a Matterport tour. That's important for shooting budget conscious listings where you may only be able to Add On $149 or $199. [With Asteroom, you only need to take 360s that are in line-of-site for the Asteroom AI to auto-assemble your Asteroom virtual tour (one 360 per room, hallways for line-of-site to rooms; and exteriors).] Since most clients engage real estate photographers to shoot photos (and maybe a virtual tour), the amount of time that it takes to shoot an Asteroom tour means that it can easily, quickly and affordably be done as an Add On (and I recommend shooting an Asteroom tour, even if the client did not request it) and gifting or offering at $149, $199, $249 or more. So this is certainly interesting and it may be able to cut some of the costs the clients who use Matterport are incurring. I can take 360° Panos one in each room and the dollhouse effect can be built from that one Pano? I can use my Pro2 to capture the panos and then download them from the model. The model can be updated so the panos only take up one space on my Matterport spaces. It seems worth working into what I offer. |

@Virtual_Homey Exactly! One pano per room AND the height from the floor to the camera lens = Asteroom creates dollhouse. It's crazy-amazing! You will need at least one Matterport scan. The rest can be 360 Views. ✓ How to Create an Asteroom using 360s Shot by a Matterport Pro2 3D Camera Once done with the Matterport Space, archive it! Dan |

@Virtual_Homey Yes. Any 360 spherical image (panoramas) works with Asteroom! So, DSLR shot equi-rectangular images are GREAT! Dan |

Thanks so much for posting this Dan. I'm working on my first Asteroom tour now. I did the same thing as you did above. I just took 360's from our MP tour and put them into Asteroom. I still think MP is the gold standard when coming to looking at an entire house with great quality. As you mentioned, 360's would be so much faster and we could offer the tour at a lower price point as an add on. I'm finding that many realtors just want the floor plan and using a small 360 camera and doing on scan per room would be such much easier than with the Matterport camera. Not to mention, no uploading fees. I do love the fact that Asteroom will edit the 360's to make them look better. |

@fotoguy Please do share your Asteroom tour with the Community. Feel free to start a new discussion with your Asteroom tour and your thought (and ask the Community for feedback). And, please let us know if you are able to develop more business for lower priced homes by offering Asteroom virtual tours as an Add On to your photo shoots. As you mentioned, for those that just need floor plans to help market a property, Asteroom solves that too! Best, Dan |
