TheRealDeal (22 July 2020) There’s a scramble to refinance and buy new homes "[Mortgage Bankers Association's] index tracking the volume of mortgage applications to buy homes increased 2 percent, seasonally adjusted, from the second week of July [2020] when it fell by 6 percent," reports TheRealDeal. "[Mortgage Bankers Association's] overall index, which measures all home-loan applications, increased by 4.1 percent, and refinancing applications accounted for 65 percent of the total applications," reports TheRealDeal The "scramble" to buy new homes should be good for Matterport Service Providers and real estate agents. I encourage you to subscribe and read the entire article. Best, Dan |

Dan, I appreciate that you bring us news of happenings in the real estate market! As a real estate agent myself, I watch several sources so I can stay informed and provide updates to my circle of influence. You have shared some new sources in the past two weeks since I became a member. I want to point out a source you might check out: Keeping Current Matters at www.KeepingCurrentMatter.com They provide content to real estate agents (blog posts, videos, weekly and monthly reports). The monthly reports are very informative and well-sourced. They include commentary on employment, the mortgage market, sales activity, etc.. There is a subscription cost but it may be worth it for some WGAN members. Also, I have found helpful, regular updates on the NAR (National Association of Realtors nar.realtor) site, realtor.com, Redfin, and the local MLS provider (different around the country). All these organizations have staff analysts who watch the market and provide distillations of all the data that is compiled weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc. The graphs and infographics help communicate direction and trends. It doesn't take much time to scan through a few updates to stay informed enough to have some sense of what is happening in the market that is the main "fishing pond" for many WGAN members. |
