Hi All,

The WGAN Forum Question of the Day for Saturday, 25 April 2020:

What size images does your MLS require? (What's your workflow to do this?)

Best,

Dan

Our old MLS worked best with 4x3 aspect ratio, and would often give very odd results at other sapects. The new one seems to be much less sensitive to this, and I deliver native format, which is 3x2. I've also recently delivered a lot of 1:1 format for Instagram purposes.

Happy Saturday!

This varies widely between the MLS’s

I deliver full resolution images in addition to a “web sized” folder of the same images. My web sized images I deliver are 1800px by 1200px which works well in my MLS’s and happens to be Sotheby’s International Reality’s preferred image size.

I don't do anything less than 1920 by 1080 and the MLS in this side of New York will accept the largest file possible such as raw, and the bigger the better. Low resolution shots look even crappier on websites that further erode image quality for bandwidth considerations.

Mine suggests nothing smaller than 1600 x 1200, but will accept any image smaller than 5MB each.

The last group of MLS images I delivered were 4255 x 2847, 300dpi and about 600KB each after photoshop reduction to 75% (full size of the same images were same dimensions, but 6.75MB each).

All of my images are cropped to 1920 x 1080. I deliver both Hi & Low res of each image in seperate folders. When I started in real estate photos I would ask each client what size image they wanted and most of them were not sure so I just started making them all the same size, that I decided on, and in over 500 jobs, I have never had any client ask me to resize them.

Thank you for your replies. Too bad the various MLS services do not standardize sizes across the USA and Canada.

I could imagine that you already have your workflow for how you do your resizing.
