Matterport announces virtual staging partnership with vrpm for commercial and residential real estate. Full Announcement Here Here are the examples they used. View Mulberry Homes virtual staging through VRPM. View One Knightsbridge Green virtual staging through VRPM. I am US and didn't see anything today regarding ordering when I logged in so perhaps ordering will come later. This was a huge reason for buying the camera 5 years ago after coming across Matt Bells speech from 2014. Took awhile to get here. |

Matterport Press Release —— MATTERPORT ANNOUNCES VIRTUAL STAGING PARTNERSHIP WITH VRPM FOR COMMERCIAL AND RESIDENTIAL REAL ESTATE New partnership enables the virtual staging of Matterport 3D models March 3, 2020 LONDON – Matterport, the market leader for spatial data capture, has announced a partnership with UK-based studio VRPM to provide a range of virtual staging options for residential and commercial properties with Matterport 3D models. Matterport recently opened access to its platform, enabling third-party partners, like VRPM, to create industry-specific tools and services that leverage Matterport’s capture and AI technologies. Property staging involves the hiring, delivery and arrangement of physical furnishings by real estate agents to market unfurnished properties. Alternatively, virtual staging enables the placement of computer-generated furniture into 3D models to create a beautifully furnished space. This is often done using 2D imagery, but VRPM is able to virtually stage a property within a Matterport 3D model to create a fully immersive experience. Now, agents who want to promote unfurnished or vacant properties can save thousands of dollars with virtual staging. “For property owners and tenants alike, space planning and staging have long been essential to the industry. Until now there has never been a scalable, easy to use platform in the digital realm. This new service will provide high-quality virtual staging right inside Matterport 3D models for our customers around the world,” said RJ Pittman, CEO of Matterport. “VRPM’s service is a great example of how our partners are increasing the value of Matterport digital twins and spatial data. Our platform approach helps developers and partners play a key role with Matterport in digitizing the built world.” A specialist in augmented reality and virtual staging for real estate, VRPM will leverage the Matterport platform to integrate highly realistic furniture or commercial interiors into its 3D models. For homeowners, it will allow agents to sell their homes quicker and at a higher price than if it was unfurnished, while prospective buyers will be able to visualize the functionality and possibilities of the home as if it was outfitted with real furnishings. Early users of the service include UK-based housebuilder Mulberry Homes. “We have created a range of highly effective virtual staging tools for residential and commercial properties, drawing on our team’s expertise in augmented reality and 3D,” said Mike Merron, Director and Founder of VRPM. “This is just the beginning of what the technology can do, and we are looking forward to working with Matterport and their scan service provider network to innovate exciting virtual staging solutions for the built environment.” According to James Morris-Manuel, Vice President of Matterport in EMEA, the VRPM partnership will significantly increase access to virtual staging for Matterport customers by removing the friction and frustration for buyers and vendors who have access to different configurations. They no longer have to rely on their imagination of how the space could look, providing a much clearer illustration of the final product. “Virtual staging allows prospective buyers, tenants, occupiers and others to see the potential in a property and the variety of ways in which a space can be used. This is a huge asset to real estate agents looking to win instructions and market properties quickly,” said Morris-Manuel. “In the residential market it puts furnished and unfurnished properties on a level playing field.” View Mulberry Homes virtual staging through VRPM. Its unique 3D capture technology creates the spatial data layer on which the industry can interoperate, and the company’s all-in-one 3D data platform makes it fast and easy to turn any physical space into an accurate and immersive digital twin. How? In the press release (that we did not receive here in Canada!), it says "Matterport recently opened access to its platform"... How do we get access to the data so we can also play around with it? Once the data is accessible, anybody competent enough with 3D should be able to add furniture in an empty space. The .OBJ used to be accessible for free(until they included it in the pay-to-access Matterpak). .OBJ wasn't the best option, but it was a good start. |

@DanSmigrod I just visited the VRPM website looking for some sort of rate card, or at least some pricing guidance, but never found anything except, "Starting at 120 in pounds sterling" - about $153.60 USD. I have emailed the company for more info, but do you have any idea whether they require a commitment to stage all scans, or just the typical, few, "money shots" when staging still photos (family room, kitchen, master bedroom, office, etc.)? Also, I'm assuming they don't care what type of furniture design is selected, but I didn't see anything on the website that confirms this one way or the other. Does anyone have more info on the above? |

@bryanhscott Hi Bryan - we provide a design and production management service which support any MSP who wish to work with VRPM. An Instant quote can be captured here: https://imagineerconsulting.io/matterport-tours-virtual-staging/ We begin with 30 scan points and virtually stage those. (£20 per scan point; $25 / €22.75) Upwards of 65 scan is (£18 per scan point; $22.75 / €20.46) We do not stage each and every scan in your tour, we select, with you the best areas to create a visually appealing experience for the user. For example a bedroom may have 4 scans in the tour you provide but to create a staged tour we can use 3 or even 2 on some occasions. It is therefore important to scan in those location points where you wish the user to have a good view of the room and be able to move in and around easily. Our price includes all the 3D objects required to stage the scene, management and production. We work with VRPM transparently to provide this service. Do let me know if you require anything else. Thank you, Angus |

@angusnorriss Thanks much for filling in the blanks Angus. Also, I have since received a reply on my earlier email request for info directly from VRPM, so now have enough info to assist in the decision-making process. | ||

Hi, Am I interpreting this right? If there are 4 scans in a bedroom, the room will appear staged from two scan points, but will look vacant/empty from the other 2 scanned positions? If this is correct, I wouldn't hear the end of it from my customers. I'd be receiving nasty emails within seconds complaining about the glitch. Is that right that the starting point on the price is over $150USD? Im in Canada and thats over $200CAD. I'd have a difficult time in this economy upselling this feature at the cost price, let alone factoring in a profit for myself. I'm sure it will go over well in more lucrative real estate markets however. Thanks for the information John |

Hi @jchafe, I believe you are interpreting it wrong. Minimum price is 645$ because they start with 31 scanpoints, see image. In the end you will have two tours. One unstaged with all scanpoints and one staged with less scanpoints. Like @angusnoriss wrote: "For example a bedroom may have 4 scans in the tour you provide but to create a staged tour we can use 3 or even 2 on some occasions. It is therefore important to scan in those location points where you wish the user to have a good view of the room and be able to move in and around easily." Not staged scanpoints should be hidden. This will require some other action/planning while scanning. If you couldn´t stage the panoramas by yourself the price is really fair I think. Other providers are more expensive. Jens |

Exactly. Your tour is duplicated and then virtually staged. Unstaged scans are removed so the experience remains seamless. Our relationship with VRPM is transparent. Our service is: - interior design - preferential rates - production management - free access to 3D libraries - peace of mind that you can scale this service as an MSP - proven expertise Please let me know if I can answer anything else. Thank you Angus |

@JuMP @angusnorriss I agree with you. Why must we also wait 4 years for this? Why can't we do this ourselves? Why does GEOCV do it better and cheaper than Matterport? Why did Criss create a proof of concept 3 years ago, to remove the UGLY camera out of mirrors and reflections? Then Matterport sends him a cease and desist, to stop this. We have been asking for this now for over 5 years so why only now. Did you first want to sell cameras to all our clients, push down our pricing, then treating us like we are your employees, also keeping our work hostage in your ecosystem? But Matterport made it so much easier to sell new and more innovative solutions to our customers because it is easy to do a comparison between Matterport and the new solutions to see how far behind they are. It is easy to show your client a Matterprt tour and the same space done with product XXXXXX, 100% of the time they choose the new solution, at a higher price. They are trying to sue one competitor but they are not realizing they have to sue all the other different Virtual tour solutions, and that is such a joke. Go and look at how outdated their player looks, it looks like a DOS operating system vs the other solutions. And the clients agree. Spend less money on redesigning your logo and website and better your product. It does not help to put confetti on [redacted], it is still [redacted] just shinier. I also heard they are opening up a sales office here in the UAE- Dubai from their UK sales office, the joke is we can't even get clients to take the tours for free here, so don't know what more cameras in the market is going to do. If you can do it with one of those point and shoot 360 one button bad quality cameras, but I understand the marketing, a monkey can do it just give it a banana and push a button. |
