Just got a marketing blurb from Ricoh Tours. This is the first I am hearing about this. So another entrant at only $45/month seems interesting. Obviously not the same quality as Matterport. https://www.ricohtours.com/ |

@leonherbert They have been around for a little while now they just do not market as much as the other guys. The "all you can eat" aspect is what I have been eyeballing | ||

$45/month for unlimited seems to be worth paying. However I am not sure you can create a tour with their Z1s and Vs due to Ricoh cutting off accuracy in location data. When you have 5m or even 5cm accuracy it is one thing but when it turns into 50-100m accuracy by bugs(or by bad code) in their app what kind of quality of a tour your can expect with that? The only way to avoid it is to use these two cameras with Street View app but I do not think you can use Ricoh Tours when you capture with Street View. Anyway I have decided to get rid of all ricoh cameras. It is not just location data where Ricoh really screws us(or at least me) up and they do not want to acknowledge & fix it. Yesterday I could not picture with my Z1 all 10 panoramas needed because its battery started draining fast(dropped to 45% from 95% in just 25 minutes). On top of that it suddenly started to think that +30C is too hot for it and started shutting down based on its internal temperature. I was lucky it was one of free tours I was doing for my local state school and nobody from a client was present to add to my embarrassment. Add on top a super limited wifi range(mine disconnects within 2 meters of a direct line of sight) and you get a completelly screwed up product. I have got a super good deal on a brand new Pilot Era and I should get it next week. Let's hope this one will be the one I will really like. |
