Moving objects or people in MP scans - problem with alignment?10494

bryanhscott private msg quote post Address this user
Hello Fellow MSPs.

Anyone have any experience with moving objects in your Matterport 3D scans in terms of alignment in the capture app? I have had a cat or small dog run through my scan before, but never had an alignment problem as a result, just had to re-scan that position to remove the blur created when the animal ran by.

Just wondering if anyone has experience, in a retail environment, where larger objects (patrons/customers) are present and walking around in the field of view by the Pro2.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

@lilnitsch Thanks for this. Hopefully, the quantity of patrons walking through the space will be minimal. Based on the client's intent for the data, people should not be a huge impediment. Guess we'll see! Thanks again.

I have scanned several retail stores with people in them and it did not affect alignment. The purpose of the scans was for construction / Matterpak data collection so having a few people in the scans was acceptable.

@schaferu Finding the scan positions with that particular carpet was a bit of a chore.

@lilnitsch how did you stay out of the scans? Run and hide?

@3SixtyNow I was in every scan of the tour above (far too many people to leave my Z1 alone) early the next morning I did go through and re-scan & I am in a scan or two but this was for my own purposes and got a lot of contacts doing so
