I recently completed a GeoCV scan of the Microsoft Experience Center - Asia located in Singapore. We used GeoCV as the client was interested in self hosting the model on their own cloud (Azure). While I can't share the original tour, here are some notes: - The project took 1.5 days to complete with 320+ scans - The process went mostly smooth. The major issues were shiny floors and walls and long hallways with nothing for the scanner to hang on. We solved them by strategically positioning furniture and scan at irregular intervals - Some of the most glamorous misalignments due to connecting different areas together were resolved magically in cloud processing. I tried to minimize those instances by scanning the center first and expand in the periphery later - GeoCV has a shorter range than MP, so to cover the same ground more scans are necessary - Processing took around 7h. I learned that it's better to interrupt an ongoing processing before starting a new one - Here is an article related to the space and a video. You can spot me at 1:29 with the checkered shirt :-) |
