Schematic Floor Plans vs Appraisal Assessment?

rhelling (314):
…just to add We scan for developers and architects. We’re scanning for BOMA standards. We’ll grab the MatterPak and/or E57 files for greater accuracy and draw over them in our CAD software. We have to observe the existing building conditions of the exterior and demising walls in order for us to accurately input that into CAD. You’ll get a much different square footage number if you’re assuming a 6” exterior wall and it’s really...

@DanSmigrod, after reading the article I see that one thing the author pointed out was the need to calibrate the scanner. My concern has always been that Matterport has no plans on calibration. I do not know how they are going to address this concern or issue moving forward.
Has anyone compare MP floor plans with dimension mode?

BTW you can do measure on the horizontal plate on our x-ray style floormap (on printed hardcopy, no computer required), just like you do measure in the showcase page.

(Transcript continued from above) --- [00:58:25] John Russo: - To tag onto that, just because it's a small room, it still goes back to the intent. Because let's say we're doing a window replacement project and you want to know the opening size. That's a very small thing to measure, but I don't know that I'm going to trust the measurements out of a Matterport Pro3 Camera scan, even to take a small relative measurement like...

Matterport Scanning Tips for Accuracy?

Wingman (4345):
if it is just for a floor plan it depends on geometry of a space and how far a lidar that is being used can see. Some rooms say small bedrooms may need just one scan in the middle to capture all distances in x, y and z and one scan close to a doorway to capture it and provide enough points for registration for any space behind that doorway where you are going to do another scan. However even for bedrooms one scan may be not enough as for a built...
Accuracy of Matterport pro3 Scan for Construction

Wingman (4345):
in both theory and practise yes. Just imagine you did a next scan at a corner with a hall turning 90 degrees and Matterport due to the lack of data on both sides(before the corner and after it) did not identify correctly a corner angle. If you leave it like this you got totally wrong angle for the corner turn. However if you keep scanning near the corner next scans will be correcting the corner angle with every next scan around it.
