Video: Matterport Axis - Motorized Mount for 3D Scanning | Hands On Overview | Video courtesy of Adorama | Tuesday, 8 February 2022 Brain Teaser: What's wrong with this picture? What would have fixed problem? Hi All, This is a brainteaser for experienced Matterport Pros. If this Matterport tour was the second floor of a two-story house, what's wrong with this Matterport tour (at 2:39 into the video) and what would have fixed this problem? Best, Dan |

@CharlesHH I am actually looking for a bigger problem/solution, though dollhouse trim tool is valid. Dan |

I looked at it full screen. Do you mean all the black holes? Needs more scans. But then I would use a Pro2. If I was using an iPhone I would want to minimise number of scans and jump from room to room. In that case you can switch off dollhouse view and do a quickstart with URL parameter. |

Hi All, Brain Teaser continues ... 1. Aside from aesthetics of the Matterport dollhouse, why are "black holes" a problem on the second floor of a house? 2. How would you fix the "black holes" using the Matterport Axis? Dan |

Only 1 scan position is ever shown in the capture app. I have asked both Adorama and Matterport for an actual tour link captured with this new device to no avail. I signed up for the ability to pre order one of these devices once I have my hands on this device I’ll do some sort of comparison I think the model shown in the video is suffering from not enough scan data |

The Axis capture app does not allow you to notate windows or mirrors? | ||

@DigitalTwin Axis uses the the same Capture app though the shooter also may not have used any of those tools. |

Couple problems. The first model, long and narrow one shown early in the video, failed to mark the circular mirror at the left end of home. This created a phantom room on left which is duplicate of adjoining room. Holes in floor of 2nd level of a home can be a problem in several ways. First, traversing them in walkthrough mode creates a weird visual effect since there is no mesh onto which to map the photographic capture. Switch to mesh mode and you can actually fall right through them. Kinda cool if you’re building a Halloween fun house, but not so good for real estate. Yeah, people don’t use mesh mode much but I’m just sayin’ In general, I wonder why anyone creating a video example to demonstrate a piece of equipment would include such terrible examples of its use. Both these dollhouse views make the technology look awful, which they needn’t have done. |

@lilnitsch I am surprised that it is not trimmed nicely. Your thoughts on why not? Dan |

@DanSmigrod Overall not bad, there is a bit of grain (but small sensors on the iPhone) and seems to be a little warm for color temperature |

@DanSmigrod Oversight on their part ~ Amir isn't a "production" shooter in the field |

It also appears that Amir is holding the monopod for a little added stability I will be using my Manfroto Tripod or my iFootage monopod |

Indeed ~ I just think Amir just didn't bother to mark up the model prior to uploading it for processing Quote: Originally Posted by DanSmigrod |
