For the initial design phase where accuracy isn't a must, the pro3 is fine. | ||

These three paragraphs need a better explanation. The first is enough to put off any architect with the “we need to own it” part. The second is rude to capture professionals looking for extra work who sign up for Capture Services. “ “We are now very focused on two solutions for the industry, and that’s design / construction management, and then facilities management,” she adds. “We are used time and time again, especially in the documentation stage, for milestone captures and definitely for handover packages. But we need to own it, and we need to put it out that way. And so this is our big focus for the company.” In terms of technology, Lin explains how Matterport now has automatic dimensions, the ability to merge complex spaces and to copy notes and annotations from one model to the next. “These are workflow challenges that have hindered people from adopting using Matterport technology on a more regular basis,” she says. Matterport also has a team of service professional scanners, ‘the Uber on demand’ of scanning. If you want a scan, or don’t want to make the camera investment, it’s possible to have someone go and scan with the Matterport Pro3.” Frankly I have found that most architectural applications of Matterport are hindered by the subscription plan. The companies I meet who actually want to use the model (not just the point cloud or the BIM that I outsource) want the MSP to host the model for them. Architect’s work is as the article says on a project to project basis. They generally do not want to add on going costs. |
