Yes. And make sure your first scan is pointing toward and is exactly parallel with what you want at the top of your floor plan.

It’s floor plan management. The first scan sets up the entire geometry of the project. If you want a neat plan point the lenses relatively “north” and parallel with the building.

I feel like this is a trick question.... the camera has the thread for the tripod at the bottom and if you stand behind it, the handle will always be to the left. However if you flip it upside down (which @chemistrydoc mentioned doing rarely in a comment above) the handle would be to the right if you're standing behind it. So I guess the answer is, yes always facing the same direction unless upside down? |

Facing the same direction doesn't matter when you capture the building, Matterport will level every points during cloud processing. In the result showcase every point is leveled and face to the same direction by default. But when you download the panos from Matterport, the panos package are not leveled. Because Matterport using realtime leveling, the pano data they stored are facing the direction when you capture it. When showing them Matterport system will load the parameter of direction to rotate the pano. That is why JuMP provide a leveled Panos generation services compare to the original Panos generation. We will get the pano and its direction parameter, and apply that direction parameter to the pano directly before We send this result. After this leveling processing you will get a panos package facing the same direction. No special during capture, just place your Pro2 and Click the button. |

like @HarlanHambright said, the initial handle positioning is crucial to having a neat & professional model. I always take extra care that the handle faces to the front of the space scanned at a 90-degree angle to the front entry door. When scanning it's just good practice to always begin with your handle in the same starting position. |
