Screen Grab: Oculus Quest Matterport Blog (16 July 2020) Introducing The New VR Mode "Virtual Reality is one of the best ways of experiencing a Matterport Space. So we are quite excited to tell you that Showcase now has a new VR Mode, optimized for the Oculus Quest," say Matterport. "Walk anywhere: Visitors can walk anywhere in the Space, and no longer have to follow the VR Path (the blue spheres)," says Matterport. "Why do you recommend the Oculus Quest? Oculus Quest is the newest and most popular headset from Oculus, and is a great combination of comfort and performance. Matterport Spaces simply look and feel the best in Quest," says Matterport. You can read the entire Matterport blog post here. If you have an Oculus Quest, please share your experience viewing Matterport tours. Best, Dan P.S. You can buy an Oculus Quest in Amazon Store: 64GB Version | 128GB Version |

I tested a model on my Oculus Quest this evening. I can say the image quality has improved, and it's certainly an improvement. When I read the press release I thought the "walk anywhere" meant you could venture through the mesh in 6 degrees of freedom. Alas, that is not the case. It just means rather than being limited to the spots the VR used to generate you can now go to any scan location. So temper your enthusiasm if you read more into that as I originally did. |

I was using Oculus Go which worked but was not officially supported. I'll have to dig it out and see if they have made it easier/better. For me VR is a fun gimmick. If I actually wanted to have a good look around give me a large computer screen and a Matterport tour. |

Is there an easy way to view one or multiple Spaces without having to type the complex URL every time?

@ArchimedStudio Probably with a WP3D portfolio/map website.

The Oculus app is meant to allow me to copy the url and paste it into the Go browser. It doesn't. One solution is to save it to bookmarks/favourites, then access is easy for numerous models. There is a way of saving spaces into the memory for offline use but it is fairly complex. Somebody will have the instructions. |

@ArchimedStudio No need to use a VR URL. If you load any matterport model in the Oculus Quest it automatically recognizes it and gives you an "Enter VR" option. It's a different experience, of course, for Google Cardboard. |
