Matterport: Garage Scanning Inquiry12428

WALES private msg quote post Address this user
As a newbie I am experimenting with my Theta Z1 and have a question concerning garages:

What is best practice for scanning a cluttered garage to ensure the space will be included in a 3rd party produced floor plan while hiding the garage content from the dollhouse? I realize hiding the garage scans restricts a viewer from accessing the garage, however the dollhouse still shows the garage clutter. Thanks.

Do the full scan, process it and get floor plans.
Make a duplicate without the garage scans for buyers to view.

Charles,
Thanks. In my testing I did duplicate and hide garage scans but the garage content is still visible in the dollhouse. Thanks again.

Don’t hide the scans in the processed model. Then they stay in dollhouse.

Go back to Capture, duplicate the model and then Delete the garage scans completely, then resubmit for processing. Now you will have no garage at all.

One final option might be to scan it with the lights off. Not total darkness but very low, inner door open. I had to do a screening room like that with a MP Pro2 and it worked well.

@WALES

Since you are interested in 2D schematic floor plans and are using a Ricoh Theta Z1 to create Matterport tours, this WGAN Forum post may be helpful:

Can Captur3D create floor plan from Matterport created with Ricoh Theta Z1?

Best,

Dan

Dan,

Thanks and I did find that thread in my initial research. I previously chatted with @AlexHitchcock and plan to follow up with him again.

@WALES

If you use this WGAN affiliate link for CAPTUR3D, you will receive 6 free floor plans from CAPTUR3D when setting up a CAPTUR3D account.

Best,

Dan

Charles, I followed your instructions, was able to upload duplicate which eliminated the garage issue but I am now attempting to confirm 2D FP info with Alex. Will keep you posted and thanks for the input and follow up.

Glad it worked.
I like Captur3d floor plans. If they can see boundaries from Google Earth or if you send them a Google screengrab with borders marked, they do a great site plan too.
