I tell you, I'm amazed at what people reach out to me expecting me to do for the pay they're offering.

When out of staters come into your market, and think they can tell you what they're going to pay you for work you do....

Sorry it doesn't work like that.

You get to dictate to them what you will charge to do that work.

This is a lesson that so many photographers need to learn. I even call these people out when this situation occurs.

Anybody that accepts work for ridiculously low payouts, you're only cheapening yourself and your own value while furthering these people's reasons to keep sending work out at these stupid payouts.

There are people that are a part of this group that reach out to me with the most ridiculous offers...

You guys need to do better. Have more respect for the industry we are in. Have more respect for your fellow photographers.

Just remember, you are in charge of what you get paid. Not the person reaching out to you.

Make them spend the time searching to find that person who will accept that low payout.

Just don't be that person.

if you don't have a presence, online reputation and social media showing the difference between you and others then why should they pay? I see the lower priced providers not doing the things the premium property marketers do and even at the lower prices its still too much. giving less for less pay hurts you all in the long run. show them why you should be more, have clients praising using you versus others.

but there will always be the predators to try to get you to go cheap while they make more money off of your work. Just get your brand, reputation and socials up enough so you dont take their call. Then watch their offers rise

Like $75 for interior, exterior and community photos?

Or $50 for drone photos of a commercial center from 3 heights at 8 compass points and overheads of each building?

Or "we manage 1000's of properties across the country and we need it done today, but we're not able to book on your site with a credit card. You'll need to fill out a vendor packet and submit an invoice and (maybe) we'll send a check within 30 days. But we need it photographed today".

Or $75 for a 360 tour of a home. Oh, and you need to contact the homeowner to schedule. Oh, and you also need to complete this questionnaire about what is and isn't working in the home. Oh, and don't forget the street view, and each side of the house and the backyard... and make sure you measure the height from the floor to the top of the master bedroom door. WHAT?

nope

I've mentioned this a lot lately to people inquiring about our services that there's a race to the bottom as far as pricing and my company is not in that race. I have no problem telling a potential client "this is what I charge...." and when they ask if I can do it for less my response is "no". no debate, no negative feelings, just no. No can be a sentence.

i'd encourage everyone to stick to their wishes as far as what they want to get paid. Each market is different and within that market there's probably 100 operators who charge 100 different prices. Your time is worth what you think it is, don't sacrifice. For every 1 client who balks at your pricing there's 10 more who are ok paying what you want.

just my $.02.
